I gave Mom her birthday present today, so I can finally blog about it!
I joined a mystery CAL on June 1 for this shawl, and I finished it yesterday. I’m so thrilled with it. This is the most intricate piece I’ve ever crocheted. It’s done wonders for my crochet ego that it turned out so well. And bonus – Mom loves it!

I LOVE this shawl! It is stupendous. Do you know if the pattern is still available?

Thank you so much! Yes, the pattern is known on Ravelry as Laceweight Mystery Shawl by Tracey McCorkle..there’s a group for it, too, called CLF Mystery Shawl, I think. You can find the pattern on Tracey’s website: http://trinketsbytracey.blogspot.com/
Be aware going into it that after about Row 21 or so, you’ll be doing a lot on your own. Tracey intended the pattern to be more of a guide than a stitch-by-stitch pattern. I had problems with that at first, as I’m very much a “stick to the instructions” sort of gal, but I eventually got the hang of it. Once you figure out the pattern repeats, the shawl does grow organically on its own. It was a neat experience.
