Two things that made me happy this week:
Sunday, I wore a twirly skirt. I don’t usually wear skirts. My uniform for the past eight years has been jeans, sometimes with a tee, sometimes with a “nicer” top. I’ve had this skirt hanging in my closet for about two years, tags still on. I put it on Sunday, and after church, I came home and spun. My boys were impressed. They would have had me spinning all day if my head could have handled it, and I felt again the giddy joy of a little girl in a twirly skirt showing off for the cute boys. Jason didn’t quite understand, but he smiled to see me happy. Do yourself a favor, girls, and put on a twirly skirt this week, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
Autumn, my favorite time of year, is here! The trees aren’t showing it yet, but the boys wore jackets at the bus stop yesterday and today, and the breeze chilled us a bit in the stands at tee ball. If the wind would pick up a little bit more, and the trees would loosen their grip on the leaves just a tad, the foliage swirling through the yard wouldn’t just be in my head. But it makes me happy anyway.
