Congratulations to President Obama and the people of the US of A.
As a foreigner who wants good things to happen in any and all parts of the world, I wish Americans will work more in harmony with their president. How successful Obama can be as American president will depend on how well his fellow-Americans can rein in their demands for their expectations to be satisfied.

Every inauguration day is a chance to congratulate ourselves, especially when so many countries are incapable of a peaceful change of power. Congratulations to us; just exactly like eight years ago, and eight years before that, and four years before that….

I agree with you 100%, Heather. It’s easy to forget in the hubbub of politics that so many millions (billions!) of people in the world have never experienced a peaceable transfer of power.

I agree with Heather too. I believe in term limits. Every four years we have the opportunity to change things. And every eight years, it’s time for change of leadership. Every inauguration is a time of change and a time of hope in new ideas. This is a great day!
